The Association Of Professional Dog Trainers, or A.P.D.T., is a professional organization of independent dog trainers that are dedicated to becoming better trainers through education. Knowledge is power and the dog loving people at A.P.D.T. do everything in their power to help further educate people in dog training. They offer online classes, webinars, trainer referrals, and more. This month-long holiday is simply another way to help promote and educate people about the importance of proper dog training.
How Can Dogs Be Dangerous?
Dogs are an important part of our lives. They act as service dogs, military dogs, police dogs, and as companion animals. However, it’s important to remember that they are still animals and can be potentially dangerous if not properly trained. Some breeds of dogs (Mastiff, Saint Bernard, Great Dane, Newfoundland, Great Pyrenees) can easily grow to be over 100 pounds. Aside from weight and size, dogs also possess a total of 42 teeth. These teeth include incisors (used to bite), canines (used to tear and shred flesh), and molars/premolars (used to crush and shear). Essentially, dogs can use their mouth as a weapon and as a tool for tearing or cutting food.
